Background:

AMSPEC is a leading supplier of analytical testing services to the petroleum, chemical, and natural gas industries. The project involved completing the waterproofing of an extended building at the Goods Yard, located close to Manchester's town centre. The felt system installed had previously been installed to other roof areas, and all warranties had to be retained.

Challenge:

The project presented several challenges for Elite Flat Roofing, including weight restrictions that made it impossible to load and store materials at roof level. The roofing system also had to be installed in a 20-degree pitch roof, which required extensive labor and expertise to ensure a secure and reliable installation.

Solution:

Elite Flat Roofing was selected to complete the waterproofing of the extended building, using the EshaFlex Felt BUR provided by RADMAT Building Products. The EshaFlex Felt BUR system is a built-up roofing system that consists of multiple layers of bituminous felt and insulation.

Process:

The project began with Elite Flat Roofing site team installing a self-adhesive VCL over the ply substrate, followed by a 190mm two board build-up fixed both mechanically and adhered with PU adhesive. The roofing system was then finished with a 2-layer EshaFlex felt system. The addition of a PPC Aluminium gutter system further enhanced the overall design of the roofing system.

Throughout the project, Elite Flat Roofing onsite team faced several challenges, including daily loading out of materials due to the weight restrictions at roof level.
